There’s a lot of everything out there… but only one ‘you-view’

The advice…

There’s a lot of everything out there. Don’t let that put you off from adding ‘you’ to the mix.

Where it’s coming from…

It can be demoralising. It can stop you from doing something you want to do. I’m talking about the thought: “But it’s been all said and done before. What do I have to offer that is new?”

I confess that I come face to face with this thought very often. And it comes at me from both angles: past and future. Let me explain. As you know (because you are reading this) some months ago I launched this blog. I did it because it was a passion that remained swimming around in my mind for way too long – and wanted to get out. So I let it out, amongst all the self-doubt.

This self-doubt often resurfaces when I come across an amazing website that mirrors what I have in mind and “has been done before” in the past. Or when someone else launches something similar (future).

It takes all my positivity – fuelled by advice of others before me who pretty much said what I’m about to say – to tell myself: “It’s okay. Yes, there is a lot out there. There is a lot of everything. But you are the only ‘you’ and your voice is worth listening to, too. Because you are the only person on the planet who views the world the way you do. You have a unique you-view.”

This ‘you-view” may resonate with others. So when self-doubt creeps in, I work to redirect my thoughts. I choose to continue putting forward my thoughts and ideas. And I choose to be happy for others who are doing the same. Because I know how hard it is.

I remind myself that there is not only one spotlight in this world. We can all shine together.
